STORYBIRD: WRITE YOUR OWN STORY
Storybird is a digital tool for storytelling. It is an unusual learner-based way of teaching. It all depends on creativity of learner. It makes learning more entertaining. Users use their creativity to match pictures with their texts, this kind of activity make information more memorable. It is available on Android, iOS and web. One of the disadvantages of Storybird is that most features of this platform isn’t free, so if you don’t upgrade it is quite limited. After creating your account, you will see the page to start. You can master in storytelling by clicking “CHALLENGE” button, you can read other’s books by clicking “READ” button or you can write your own masterpiece by clicking “WRITE” button at the top of the page.
- Challenge; Here you can view prepared courses on how to write.
- Read; Here you can view picture books, longform stories, comics, flash fictions or poetries written by other users. If you share your own work, it will be published and viewed by others at this part.
- Write; Here you can work your magic and start writing at any form you want. These are picture book, longform story, comic, flash fiction or poetry.
How to use in education;
To get start student choose the format (picture book, longform story, comic, flash fiction or poetry) they want to write. And then they try to find best illustration for their topic. As they can’t upload their own photos, they have to find an illustration that includes photos about the text they want to write. It is one of the disadvantages of this tool. the rest is quite easy to use. The only thing student has to do is clicking the "+" at the bottom right to add a new page, clicking and dragging a picture from the gallery onto the page. Students can locate pictures on left, right, bottom or top sides of page and add texts.
